You probably know people (and may even be one yourself) whose lack of confidence in public speaking and presenting has been a “career-limiting” handicap, but this needn’t be the case! Both physical anxiety and a lack of technical ability are both easily surmountable obstacles when it comes to effectively delivering workplace presentations, whether it be a supervisor delivering a safety message to a group of frontline contractors or a sales manager delivering an important pitch to a client. Glen, as one of only 10 Certified Speaking Professionals in New Zealand, delivers this workshop based on his book “Outstanding Presenters Speak for Themselves!” focusing on the 10 essential elements to winning presentations including:

  • Why well-crafted stories are the steroids of presentationsLeading teams
  • The importance of the first and last impressions with punch
  • The three main ways to build presentation confidence that Google won’t tell you
  • Five ways to transition from ‘talking head’ to ‘audience interaction’ andThe three main ways to build presentation confidence that Google won’t tell you
  • The effective use of objects and props- not just ‘kids play’!Five ways to transition from ‘talking head’ to ‘audience interaction’ andThe three main ways to build presentation confidence that Google won’t tell you
As with all of my presentations, I interview relevant industry personnel in order to customize the following content to the context of the audience:

From the start of the first morning to the conclusion of day two, the participants are up and practicing presenting with much of the theory hinging on what they do well and what they could potentially improve on. Experiencing fun concerning a subject that often generates fear in such an engaging and memorable way might be one reason why this workshop generates feedback such as “This has been life-changing!”- contact me to talk further about that today!Contact me now to talk further!

Entertaining, Engaging and Inspiring

Play with sound

As one of only 10 Certified Speaking professionals in NZ, and having been a professional facilitator and speaker for over 30 years, I’ve seen my fair share of the good, the bad, and downright ugly in terms of presentations. It seems in this modern world that we are increasingly being required to have presentation skills as a key workplace attribute, particularly for those in leadership roles and with the exponential increase in video content, presentation skills are increasingly being used to communicate with people who aren’t even in the room at the time of the messaging, hence this presentation skills workshops.

I recently received this feedback from an attendee on one of these- “This workshop has been life-changing!” How, you may ask yourself, could a workshop on such a mundane topic as presentation skills deliver such dramatic feedback? Well, my workshops are anything but mundane! They’re highly interactive and experiential with the 1 or 2-day workshop starting and finishing with participants presenting to the group, which might be a fearful experience for many if it wasn’t delivered in such an entertaining and engaging fashion (I’m talking about the attendees being entertaining!). This workshop, based on my book “Outstanding Presenters Speak For Themselves- a Certified Speaking Professional Reveals The 10 Essential Elements To Winning Presentations”, is very much a ‘hands-on’ workshop which gives people the chance not only to learn about but to practice elements such as:

Do you remember news at primary school on a Monday morning? Do you remember what it was called?- “Show and tell!”

Well, just over a year ago Bill Gates spoke to an international audience on the subject of sanitation and reinventing toilet technology- do you think the audience will ever forget Bill pulling out a jar full of feces from behind the lectern and placing it on a side table next to him? This is such a powerful example of the use of objects and props on stage and is an element that is both emphasized in the presentation skills workshop and practiced by the participants (thanks to a suitcase full of props that I bring to practice with that doesn’t include a jar of human waste!)

Stretching beyond our comfort zone is a core element of growing in presenting confidence, so this workshop concludes with a dramatic activity involving the workshop participants being taken quite some distance outside their comfort zones- people love it once it’s complete, and experience their ability to face the fear of presenting lifting to a whole new level!

I’d love to help your team take their presentation skills to the next level- contact me to talk further about that today!

Although this is a presentation presentation, the content can easily be ‘workshopped’ even with large audiences.

As with all of my presentations, I customize this presentation to the specific industry or professional realm that I’m speaking to. I do this by initially consulting the client to understand the needs of the audience. I then solicit the names of senior leaders and those closer to the front line to conduct interviews to ascertain pain points and specific challenges. This provides invaluable information for me to customize my presentation specifically to the audience in question and in doing so I’ll make at least 25 references specifically to their world in any 60-minute presentation.

And one thing I can guarantee with all of my presentations that no coroner will ever provide a ruling of “Death by PowerPoint!” I have my audiences laughing, on their feet, interacting with each other, and have audience members on stage with me doing live demonstrations! And all of this mixed in with thought-provoking, and riveting stories that keep the audience engaged the entire time!

“Present Like a Pro!” is also available as a workshop from three hours to three days. Contact me now to talk further!
